This one has been around for awhile, but it deserves to be here nonetheless. The second cinematic trailer for Warhammer Online from Mythic Studios and EA. The trailer from August of 2008 shows the forces of Destruction laying seige to a stronghold of the forces of Order. I love how the vignettes showing the different classes squaring off against one another seem so peaceful amidst the chaos that is this scene. Note the super slow-motion when the barbarian-looking dude with the claw hand swings at the Elven ranger-type. When you are done with this video go check out the Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer and pay close attention to the battle between the Jedi master and the Sith lord. Eerily similar.

Enjoy this one. It’s a classic.

The definition of a killer app is an application (software) made that demands its user base to go buy new hardware in order to use it, and they do, in droves no less!  Anytime a game can package together a custom peripheral to accompany the game at release, it has done well.  However, one question remains:  How well will the game sell?  I guess we will see if the 121.00$ price tag keeps Christmas shoppers away as we open the shopping gates at 4am this morning at most major retailers around the country! 121.0$ is steep!  Will it be gimmick or all game play?  It’s been out for 10days now, and I just picked it up for the Xbox360.  From what I can tell, sales are out preforming on the 360 compared to the PS3-Stay tuned, I will have a review for you in the next week, but already I have some reservations.  Briefly, here’s what I am thinking…

This game is published by Activision who pretty much dominated this space until EA’s game Skate & Skate2 came out and forced the Tony Hawk franchise back to the drawing board.  This game “Ride” is their (Activisions’) rebuttal so to speak.  Bobby Kotick  & Activision are typically the wait and see types.  He is a lot of things, and I’d probably be a happy camper who only saw positive if I were a share holder right about now (see current sales of COD Modern Warfare 2), but chance takers they just haven’t been in recent years.  Typically they would sit back and let someone else test the market with a new product like this but perhaps the success of COD MW2 gave them the confidence needed.  Add to that perfect timing for a holiday release and we are now in wait and see mode as the numbers roll in.  I just hope the board is as responsive as I think it will be.  It is going to have to pass my “3yr old” test!

In the meantime, check out Tony using it, he makes it look too easy.  I like the 2nd video as well, and is one of the reasons I really respect Tony Hawk: Not only is he the father of skateboarding, a very wise business man, but he takes care of his people! After all the insanity Christian Hosoi has been through (even if he did bring it on himself, we’ve all made stupid decisions before), Tony is there advancing his sport, promoting its icons, giving back, and we know Hosoi was a huge part of it early on! (but that’s another story!) Kudos to Hawk!

As I am pretty sure most of you know Halo: ODST is out as of September 22, 2009, I thought it worthy to save this “Live Action Trailer” of Halo 3: ODST (originally known as Halo 3: Recon), because it is plain awesome, and as a Turkey Day gift to our new Halo Correspondent AssassinMK1 cause I know he loves it. (A test of your Halo skills is forthcoming!)  (You can read his first post here about Halo: Reach.)  ODST is a first-person shooter, developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft. It was released on the Xbox 360 as an Xbox exclusive just like all the previous releases of Halo have been.   Players assume the roles of elite human soldiers from (UNSC) United Nations Space Command  otherwise known as Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST’s).  The plot of the game is basically this: After the Covenant attacks Earth, you explore the ruined city of New Mombasa in an attempt to discover what happened to your missing squad-mates which you are separated from when you enter the city.

Initially, Bungie  conceived ODST as a small side project to produce as possibly an expansion pack between the lull of Halo 3 and Halo: Reach release.   However, feature creep happens to the best of us and apparently Bungie isn’t immune to these common development faux pas either. In large part the game is another amazing production from Bungie, and a compliment to the Halo series.  Stroyline, design, and soundtrack continue to set new standards of excellence.  The only criticism of the game I have really is  whether the relatively short campaign (in between a full game and an expansion pack in size), and included extras (A beta access code for multiplayer in Reach) were enough to justify the game’s US$60 price tag.  The game just about out sold any other game in the month of September, and has sold over 3 million units to date-I’d say that is a slammin’ success!

Congrats Microsoft!  Now let’s see you and EA slug it out for total ownership of the gaming industry already!  Oh wait, we’ll never get to see that cause it will be 199.99 pay per view with the proceeds split between the 2 giants and the match eventually declared a draw!  Juked again!  Enjoy the video!  Screen shots can be seen here.

In this trailer titled “Deceived” we have the Sacking of Coruscant. It was the crowning achievement of the Sith Empire’s ambitious military strategy and the moment that changed the history of the Old Republic forever. This cinematic trailer captures this event with breathtaking action and beautiful detail, and may very well be the best cinimatic ever produced. Take notice of the Bounty Hunter’s hair, and the cape of the Sith Envoy who fights the main Jedi Knight in the scene. Absolute beauty! This is movie quality! Long live the Empire!

In what seems to be an attempt to end modding altogether for the COD franchise and hold the community hostage for new content, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, has withheld dedicated server support from Activision’s PC version of the release for COD: Modern Warfare 2.  Why would you do that?  The online multi-player service provider Infinity Ward, which had to cost Activision more to use than dedicated servers, will give the Santa Monica, California based publishing giant, total control over any and all content pushed out for COD Modern Warfare 2.  Are the days of modding your favorite games on the brink of extinction?  I sure hope this doesn’t become an industry trend!  This title has already banked more money than any game or movie ever has, ever.  Apparently, that’s not enough, and Kotick is determined to take the fun out of making video games.  Perhaps somebody didn’t know how to share his toys as a little boy?!  Greed, really, it’s what’s wrong with the world today.

There is about, ahhhhhh…too many Mortal Combat reenactments videos out there. I don’t advocate watching them as they been proven to subtract multiple IQ points from your intelligence, add +1 to your wisdom, and -3 to your charisma. I don’t know about you but, I can’t afford that! Anyways, today’s theme is “disturbing” ( Yes, I am also in the middle of a “Saw, The Game” Review. More on this disturbing thing later!) and this video seems to fit the bill perfectly! I think it is put together by the PotatoGuys. Here have a look see.

This re-mastered work of art nearly cost me a new keyboard when I first watched it. I want to believe it is real but then again, I’m gullible, and live in a fantasy world 60% of the day. Well, at least that’s what my wife keeps telling me. I can’t imagine reproducing this in real life even with marginal results without a trip to the hospital. Check it out!

Terry Tate office linebacker is plain awesome! Lester Speight, a linebacker out of Morgan state never actually played pro football-who would’a thunk it. In 1985 he signed with the Baltimore Stars of the USFL, but the league went defunct before he had a chance to pad up and play his first game. NFL teams passed on Speight, and he did a stint in pro wrestling before perusing an acting career. These commercial types are supremely effective in resonating the name of a product manufacturer and or company in the consumers mind.  That being said, only a mindless drone is going to start buying Reebok shoes just because they make awesome commercials!  Everyone knows Reebok is a poor man’s Nike!  Thank’s Reebok, but I’ll pass.

Shoe & beer companies seem to really have the marketing budgets to consistently do a series of video commercials like Terry Tate, the office line backer who dishes out a ride on the pain train to employees who slack from proper office procedure & policy! I can tell you this, no one would step out of line, fall asleep, waste company resources, trash the restroom (You know who you are-I’m talking about guy who pisses on the only toilet paper role!), take the last cup of coffee and leave an empty pot, or mac on someone’s food in the fridge if office linebacker’s were a reality. Office linebackers, yeah right-can you say lawsuit!

Would you sign a release and work in this environment for, let’s say, double pay?

Connect2earth is a green online community.  A while back they released this video about Karma.  It personifies in a comical way how what you put out there will come back at you in the strangest way.  Albeit I believe they are right, I don’t believe it would happen this quick.  Check it out!

The guys over at WoWGuide.org did a fine job with this little gem. You’ve most likely seen the commercials that pit PC (actor John Hodgman) against Mac (actor Justin Long). If you have, this video will have you rolling. Even if you haven’t, you should get a pretty good chuckle.
