I am sure many of you have experienced the constant nagging of your significant other questioning why you play such a stupid game. Shall you explain no more and allow her (or him) to read my story. When my husband and I started dating I never really thought much of WOW. I never realized how many hours he would put into a single day playing until…yes, ladies and gents…I moved in.
Oh…the endless comments on “that is a stupid game”, “is that all you are going to do today” and “we never spend time together ’cause you’re always playing”. After almost a year of this, I decided one day it was only fair of me to appreciate my husband’s interest and see if it might become one of my own too. So, I sat down with my husband’s account and created a character. Yes, I am proud to say I was a “noob” as they like to call us. Had no clue on what I was doing or how to get anywhere. Oh and I hated reading the quests to figure out where I had to go next. With my husband’s help and a few add-ons though (thanks QuestHelper!), I was in business.
My first toon was a Horde Undead Warlock. My husband always preferred to play Alliance, but I seemed to enjoy the darker side of the game (well, that and I like kickin’ ass in the battlegrounds!).
I was just amazed at how much I enjoyed the game and could not stop once I got started. We only had one computer at the time…and let me tell you…it became a constant struggle to get play-time. It was like when you were a kid in school and could not wait for the bell to ring at the end of the day. That was me watching the clock for my turn to play. Yeah…and get this…on rare occasions I dream of WOW and what rare items or NPCs I might come across next.
After getting a second computer I created a toon on the Alliance side and my husband and I play every evening since. Let me tell you it is great to be able to share a hobby together. I really hope reading this has given you a change of heart to consider giving it a shot. Umm…yeah and a year later I have more toons at level 80 than my hubby. ROFL!
