Pandemic Studios goes…Kerplunk?

Hmm...maybe Lehman Brothers should have been a clue.

In a story from Luke Plunkett over at Kotaku, there are rumors floating around that Pandemic Studios will close its doors today. Pandemic, responsible for successful titles such as Full Spectrum Warrior and Star Wars: Battlefront, was part of the EA acquisition of VG Holding Corp. (parent company for both Pandemic and BioWare) back in October 2007.

Speculation is that the rumor is coming from the inside and that the 200 or so employees scheduled to be sacked at 11am PST today are already aware of their fate. Unnamed sources go on to say that the company’s intellectual property will be transferred to EA Montreal. This would include the under-development title The Saboteur.

Everyone is checking sources and trying to identify a definitive answer on this. If we get word that it is indeed true, we’ll let you know. Keep your ears on.
