Tips and Tricks.
So you’ve discovered your an addict to Bejeweled 2 or Bejeweled Blitz like me and decided not to fight it. Good! Now that you have accepted your demise, let’s hone a strategy for you so you can impress others with your high scores! Bejeweled Blitz is fun and it’s fast too. 1 minute of crazy fast movement combining like colored gems is easy. (What isn’t easy is scoring 200k doing it.) So I’ve assembled a strategy to help you break through to the next level!
First, know the game! There are Power Gems, Hyper Cubes, and Multiplier Gems. You need to understand each of these and how they affect the game in order to maximize their use and your score. Second, you must move FAST! Third, follow the tips I provide below!
Power Cube
Ok, so what do these power cubes mean? Power cubes are created when you combine 4 like gems and as a result your left with 1 glowing/flashing gem of that color. These Gems can really help create points for you and lead way to generating multiplier gems. As mentioned, to create a power gem, match 4 gems of the same color. Now after creation, if you find that gem color all by itself with no other gems of that color nearby, move on! Don’t linger around the area trying to match it. Just flow with what is available always looking ahead. The matching of a power gem creates an explosion that takes out the set itself, and a gem of any color 1 layer deep around the power gem that just blew. This leads us to multiplier gems.
Multiplier Gem
Multiplier gems are created when you remove 12 gems from the board in any one move. So you see why power gems are important. They almost guarantee you a multiplier gem, and if you have several power gems on the board, now you’re cooking! Without multiplier gems, raising your score is going g to be difficult! You can get a total of 6X multiplier gems, which is 1 every 10 seconds. Get them all out before 30 seconds into the game and you will definitely score over 200k.
Hyper Cube
Hypercubes are created when you match 5 gems of the same color. These can help, but they can also hurt. It takes 3-5 seconds to play a hypercube. During that time you can’t make any other moves so play these wisely. I save them for a color I have at least 12 of on the board so I can generate a multiplier gem from them. Or if I have a multiplier gem on the board, let’s say of green color, I must swap (when you exchange places/spaces with a gem for a gem, that’s swapping) the hypercube for a green gem to score the multiplier gem. As mentioned, this cube takes 3-5 seconds to play. During this time it is imperative that you are scanning ahead for 2 or 3 moves you can make.
Now that you have an understanding for the types of gems in the game, you’re ready to test your knowledge and skill. Which brings us to the most important tip I can offer: Move Fast! Your sight should be such that you see one spot that allows you to see all spots. Don’t focus on any one spot. (Imagine being surrounded by 10 enemies, you can see them all by not focusing on any one in particular.) Isolate all the colors to one color in your line of sight. Don’t stare at what you just matched, quickly move your eyes to the next match while your cursor trails behind making the matches. If you can do this well, and in numerous succession, you will create a scoring bonus that increases each time you make a match. Once 3 seconds have transpired from your last successful match the scoring bonus ends until you can begin piecing more matches together in rapid succession. Also, when the game starts there is a splash screen up, do not wait for the screen to move aside and the voice to finish saying go. Just go, you get about a 3-4 second bonus in the beginning where you can move and start identifying your next moves.

Time is critical, you only have 60 seconds. Score over 200k, and your an elite player! If you can save 1 hypercube till the end, I would also do that. Don’t try to do it, just do what’s natural and in your pecking order. One last tip I have is start at the bottom. You can create larger cascades of gems by initially making matches at the bottom which seem to easily line up other gems above you. Remember, don’t stare at what you created, it’s a time killers and in a game where you have 1 minute to play, it’s a game killer too! Good luck, and feel free to post any comments you may have here below or in the forum under this topic.
